East Texas AHEC received a $1.2 million grant from the federal Health Resources and Services Administration, Bureau of Health Professions, Division of Nursing for 3-year implementation of the project and an additional 2 years for data collection.

About AHEC

East Texas AHEC is one of three Texas AHEC programs that support the 19 community-based centers, state-wide AHEC network.

  • The East Texas AHEC program is funded through the University of Texas Medical Branch – Galveston
  • West Texas AHEC through the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center – Lubbock
  • South Texas AHEC through the University of Texas Health Science Center- San Antonio. 

Focused at the local community-level, AHECs recruit people into the health professions, coordinate health professions students community-based training, and support the health professionals’ entry to and retention in practice, especially in underserved areas.

About TNA

TNA has extensive experience working with hospitals, including rural partners through the recent TNA Association Report Card Project to benchmark quality of care (part of ANA’s Safety and Quality initiative).
